Contest Yachts, Holland’s biggest semi-custom sailing yacht constructor, is excited to have on display at Southampton the latest launched Contest 42CS performance bluewater cruiser. Hitting the sweet spot in terms of size, space and capability, the 13-metre Contest 42CS provides the perfect entry point not just to Contest yachting, but to this high level of hand-built luxury yachting.
The Contest 42CS also provides the widest range of cabin and cockpit arrangements for any yacht of this size with many different accommodation plans and two different configurations for cockpit and rig to suit equally family, short-handed and regatta sailors.
The Contest 42CS on display was commissioned with the focus on space, comfort and practical working. The chosen grain for the interior is a pale oak emphasising the lightness of the accommodation already benefitting from Contest’s trademark panoramic saloon windows plus flush hatches and hull glazing.
There is a sense throughout of a considerably bigger yacht, achieved by a careful styling and detail-design balance of openness and safety at sea. The handsomely large, Corian-topped galley serves as the perfect example, providing extensive safe working space plus creating stout support and hand-holding while moving about. In this version, the master suite forward and VIP cabin aft creates privacy for all those on board, plus there’s a third cabin doubling as stowage and occasional single sleeper. It is all to this individual owner’s specification. We call it building dreams together.
And later this year Contest Yachts launches its largest yet, the all-new 26-metre flagship Contest 85CS. Designed by judel/vrolijk with interiors by Wetzels Brown, her size and serious semi-custom approach allow for many interesting interpretations. This first commission is for an owner with extensive deep ocean experience and intended for the continuation of a previously stalled world circumnavigation with short handed crew. With the owner’s and captain’s very particular views on safety and simple handling and maintenance, this new yacht incorporates extensive new thinking and practice in a yacht of this size.
First viewing and sail trials will be at an invitational Press event in the Mediterranean in late autumn.
More early information on the flagship Contest 85CS, plus the nine-boat range spanning 13-26 metres, including the widely acclaimed 16-metre Contest 52MC motor cruiser, can be enjoyed during the Southampton show with a visit to the Contest Yachts’ team down on the dock, berth M271.
