Glamour photoshoot at Moonen shipyard

Two weeks ago Moonen Journal posted the first images from a glamour photoshoot taken on board the new Moonen Martinique in build. As they take there commitment to customisation very seriously at Moonen, they even had a special collection of clothes designed for these snaps, which will have a key role in the next edition of Moonen Magazine. Here they let costume designer Tilly Zegers from TopToTeen explain how she combined fashion with the superyacht lifestyle.

"When Moonen asked me to design a mini collection in the yard's distinctive corporate colours which would also fit the Martinique look, I knew this was an assignment I would love to work on. I started by studying the yacht's beautiful design in depth and trying to gain an idea of how the lucky few who will get to enjoy her might feel. The elegance of the model, the streamlined shapes and the luxurious woods & lacquers used evoked sun, fun, relaxation, blue seas and skies of swaying palm trees."

''During my search I came across materials with colours and designs that fit this concept perfectly. The collection had to fit the variety of experiences people enjoy on superyachts: a trim and fancy dress suitable for lunch or dinner, a smarter version for the after-party, and a trouser suit for when the sun goes down. I think I succeeded as I'd personally like to wear every item of clothing and would feel very nice in them. This latter criteria was key during the design process – after all, women know the importance of comfort!"

''My work in general is to design and make costumes for special moments, from brides wishing to shine and divas on the red carpet to people looking for a nice winter coat. Over the past 30 I have pioneered unique combinations of materials, colours and patterns, making each design free of trends. Like the Moonen craftsmen, I love to incorporate all my passion and creativity in what I do and to create something genuinely different for clients.''
