Wajer Yachts has been creating elegant, powerful and luxurious open day boats for almost a quarter of a century. The yard made history with award-winning models such as the Captains Launch, Wajer 37 and Wajer 38. As a family-owned business, Wajer Yachts is renowned for its customer focused approach, high standard of service and premium Dutch quality. Company founder Dorus Wajer has spent most of his life on the water. Being a perfectionist, he often used to come up with ways to improve the boats he saw. Following his heart, Dorus started building his own launches on the lakes near Amsterdam in 1992. The Captain’s Launch, still famous for its quality, craftsmanship and iconic lines, dates from this period.
Thanks to a constant emphasis on product development, Wajer Yachts went from strength to strength over the years. In 2010, Dorus’ son Dries, who shares his father’s vision, perfectionism and passion for watersports, joined the company. Together they have further developed the Wajer models and enhanced the company’s professionalism.
A new standard
One of Dorus’ career highlights is the introduction of the new Wajer 55 in the summer of 2016. Using innovative lightweight materials and state-of-the-art production methods, the Wajer craftsmen have excelled themselves to provide a perfect balance of dynamic sailing and extraordinary comfort. The Wajer 55 blends all the characteristics that have made the Wajer brand, including an excellent performance, first-class quality, eye for detail and elegant design. Dorus, Dries and the yard that bears their name will again set a new benchmark for this class of motorboat.
A premium people-carrier that resembles a floating limousine
The Wajer 38L takes tendering to a whole new level. Based on the highly successful Wajer 38, this newest member of the Wajer fleet features proven technology and design principles and accommodates up to 12 passengers. Built to be easily lifted on and off large superyachts, this is the perfect tender for transporting guests to and from shore in comfort and style.
Easy-access arrangements at the stern and sides make boarding the Wajer 38L exceptionally safe for passengers. The sliding roof opens on sunny days and closes when the weather is less than ideal. The interior is fully climate-controlled, with easily operated air-conditioning and heating. A spacious aft deck offers guests plenty of room to enjoy the ocean breeze while the skipper enjoys panoramic views from the fully equipped cockpit, protected from the weather at all times.
To reduce the Wajer 38L’s draught – and save precious real estate on the mothership – the tender has a smart propulsion installation of Hamilton waterjets and Volvo Penta engines. The jets are fitted at the stern of the Wajer 38L, reducing draught by half a metre. They include a Blue Arrow functionality, ensuring intuitive ease of operation and making it simple to manoeuvre the boat in every direction.
Wajer has successfully deployed Volvo Penta engines on the Wajer 38 line for years and the four-cylinder D4 variety provide 260 hp each and some impressive power for the Wajer 38L. Twin Volvo Penta IPS 650 engines can also be fitted upon request.
While the new Wajer 38L has been custom-designed for superyachts, all Wajers are in fact suitable as tenders. The Wajer 38 has been used as a chase boat and tender by a number of clients who especially appreciate the high quality levels and renowned Wajer service. And the Wajer 55 was chosen as a finalist in the ‘Best Tender Design’ in this year’s Boat International Design & Innovation Awards.
